For my sister-in-law’s high school graduation, I wanted to create something more personal and memorable than a typical Hallmark card. It felt like the perfect chance to design an augmented reality experience that reflected her personality. Drawing inspiration from her ultra-girly, skater, and San Diego aesthetic, I combined digital and physical design to bring her celebration card to life.
I began by designing custom 3D text in Illustrator and generating complementary graphics in Midjourney to capture her fun style. Using Adobe Aero, I arranged the elements in 3D space to build an immersive AR scene, then designed and printed the physical card in InDesign. Finally, I anchored the augmented reality experience to the card’s image, creating an interactive piece that could be accessed with the scan of a QR code on the back of the card.
