As an avid sewist, designer, and crafter with a passion for fashion and textile design, I decided to explore the world of machine embroidery. In 2023, I purchased my first embroidery machine with the goal of personalizing my garments and accessories, while also experimenting with creating my own unique designs.
After realizing that there were no affordable embroidery software options, I set out to learn the entire embroidery design process using free software. I watched countless YouTube tutorials to understand the fundamentals of digitizing and began using Inkscape with the Ink/Stitch extension to create my embroidery files. Since I was already proficient in working with Adobe Illustrator, I developed a workflow that enabled me to design in Illustrator, export vector or SVG files, and then digitize them in Ink/Stitch.
I created a wide range of experimental (and some cheeky) embroidered patches made from thrifted felt, and have since designed one-of-a-kind accessories and garments featuring custom embroideries that I've sold on Etsy.
