Sequim Library Appeal

North Olympic Library System

Role:

Graphic Design, Marketing Support

Tools Used:

InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom

overview:

After a 2018 bond measure for the Sequim Library expansion narrowly failed by 1.4%, the North Olympic Library System (NOLS) chose to move forward with the critical project without additional taxes. Using grants, timber revenue from state trust lands, and community donations, NOLS began the much-needed improvements.

Recognizing strong community support despite the bond’s outcome, NOLS initiated a fundraising campaign to encourage local contributions toward the new library.

Approach:

  • Collaborating closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager, Marketing Lead, and Executive Director of the North Olympic Library System, this campaign targeted residents of Sequim Wa, and library cardholders across Clallam County.

  • As the primary graphic designer for this campaign, I incorporated NOLS' established brand elements while weaving in colors picked from architectural renderings of the new Sequim Library.

  • Deliverables included a bifold newsletter, multiple letters, a postcard, printed envelopes, digital signage, and more.

Outcome:

This fundraising campaign was tracked between September 15 - November 15, 2024, and raised over $550,000.

The generosity of the community has blown me away. It's rewarding to know that the work done on this campaign will directly help community members for years to come.

The new Sequim library is set to open in the Spring of 2025.
